Kids & Teens Medical Group is a general pediatrics practice that provides primary care services for infants, children, and teens. At the Van Nuys, California, office on Gilmore Street, the team of board-certified pediatricians manages all aspects of a childā€™s health needs, from well-child exams to sick visits to vaccinations.Ā 

The team also specializes in diagnosing and treating common pediatric health problems like asthma and allergies, as well as neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism. Kids & Teens Medical Group provides care seven days a week, including after-hours care with extended hours through their telehealth service.

Meet Our Providers

Elder Ayala

PA-C

Elder Orlando Ayala, PA, is a dedicated physician assistant who cares for children throughout San Fernando, California, at Kids & Teens Medical Group. As a child of Immigrant parents who migrated from Puerto Rico in the mid-’50s, Mr. Ayala has been in the medical field from the age of 20. He has worked in multiple positions, including Physical and Occupational Therapy Assistant, Central Service Technician, and finally, an Orthopaedic Technician. It was in this capacity where he was introduced to the profession of Physician Assistant. In 1992, Mr. Ayala graduated from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. He has primarily been working in San Fernando Valley in adult and pediatric medicine. Mr. Ayala has also been a martial arts practitioner for the last 30 years and, for the last five years, has attempted to integrate his training with his medical practice. In doing so, he has helped patients with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and obesity. Mr. Ayala believes he is exactly where he needs to be, caring for those in this community who are the most in need.

Barbara Rodriguez

MD, FAAP

Barbara Rodriguez, MD, FAAP, joined Kids & Teens Medical Group in 1989, practicing out of the office locations in Arcadia, La CaƱada Flintridge, Pasadena, and San Fernando, California. She has over 30 years of experience as a pediatrician. She now serves as co-medical director.

Dr. Rodriguez is a native Angeleno. She attended elementary and secondary parochial schools in the Los Angeles area prior to receiving her degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Southern California. Dr. Rodriguez earned her medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She returned to Los Angeles for her pediatric internship and residency at LAC+USC Medical Center, where she remained for a few years after training to serve as Clinical Instructor of Pediatrics. She left to pursue private practice, participate in Medical Missions in Mexico, and work in a federally qualified community health center.

Dr. Rodriguez has been board certified since 1989. She likes to focus on preventive medicine but is also very happy to support parents and guardians in the care of their children when they are acutely ill. She believes it instills confidence in their parenting skills. To better serve her patients, Dr. Rodriguez is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Outside the office, her interests include attending soccer matches, scuba diving, cooking, and spending time with her family. She also continues to be involved in teaching. She is a Volunteer Assistant Clinical Professor for the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Nursing, where she serves as a preceptor for students in their Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program.

Vatche Kaprielian

PNP Certified Pediatrician Nurse Practitioner

Vatche Kaprielian, PA- C, is a nationally certified physician assistant practicing in the Southern California area. He is proud to be a part of the Kids & Teens Medical Group team, seeing patients from the practiceā€™s convenient office locations in Northridge and Van Nuys, California. For his undergraduate studies, Vatche attended California Polytechnic University of Pomona, where he earned a degree in Biology. Following college, Vatche worked in multiple areas of medicine, including in the business and insurance aspect of healthcare, which gave him perspective into the full patient experience. Vatche decided to continue his education and pursue a degree in physician assistant studies. He was part of the University of La Verneā€™s inaugural Physician Assistant Program, graduating in December of 2020. When heā€™s not providing care for children at Kids & Teens Medical Group, Vatche enjoys spending time with his family, particularly his nephews and nieces. He also enjoys working on cars as a hobby.

Marianne Woods

MD, MSPH Board Certified Pediatrician

Marianne Woods, MD, is an esteemed pediatrician on the team at Kids & Teens Medical Group, practicing out of the offices in Northridge, Pasadena, and Van Nuys, California. Her goal is to stay abreast of the latest pediatric advancements. It is also to treat every one of her patients like family and recognize each patient and family as unique and special. She is particularly interested in helping children make healthy lifestyle choices that will carry on into their adult life. She strives to provide the very best medical care with thoughtful explanations, compassion, a good ear to listen, and a smile.

Dr. Woods graduated with honors in biology from California State University Long Beach (CSULB), after which she graduated with a Master of Science in Public Health degree from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Public Health, Department of Nutrition and Environmental Sciences.

Upon returning to the United States, Dr. Woods participated in the yearlong 5th Pathway Medical Studies Program conducted by the University of California Irvine. Her internship and residency in pediatrics were completed at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Los Angeles.

Prior to joining Kids & Teens Medical Group, she spent many years working as a staff pediatrician in the Kaiser Permanente Medical System.

Dr. Woods has been a lifelong resident of Southern California and has raised her two sons there. She enjoys music, interacting with people, sports, reading, and being with her family.

Jose Vargas

PA Certified Physician Assistant

Physician assistant Jose Vargas, PA, brings a wealth of experience in pediatric and family medicine to the team at Kids & Teens Medical Group. He has been in practice in the San Fernando Valley for 35 years and is excited to continue serving the diverse community at the practiceā€™s San Fernando, California, location. Jose completed the physician assistant program in family practice and pediatrics at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles, California. At Kids & Teens Medical Group, Jose specializes in general pediatrics and child development. He enjoys learning and meeting new challenges, and his priority is to provide high-quality pediatric care to young children and teens in the community. In his free time, Jose pursues many outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and cycling. He enjoys keeping fit and attends the gym regularly. Jose promotes a healthy lifestyle and encourages his patients and their families to get out and exercise.

Dr. Juarez is a seasoned pediatrician with over a decade of experience serving the vibrant community of the San Fernando Valley, where she was born and raised. From a tender age, her heart was set on pediatric medicine, and today, she feels privileged to live out her childhood dream. With a commitment to practicing medicine with compassion and thoroughness, Dr. Juarez Ā believes deeply in the significance of the journey alongside the connections forged with patients and families. Beyond her professional endeavors, she finds immense joy in her role as a mother to a wonderful son and cherishes the time spent with her family. Dr. Juarez Ā holds a degree in Molecular Biology with a minor in Education from UCLA, and prior to her medical training, she conducted novel research in neurology at UCLA’s Multiple Sclerosis Laboratory, contributing to multiple publications on hormonal treatments for the condition. She completed her medical education at Loma Linda School of Medicine and pediatric residency at UCI, and she continues to foster the next generation of healthcare providers as a volunteer assistant clinical professor at UCLA School of Nursing. Dr. Juarez Ā is fluent in both Spanish and Tagalog and is deeply passionate about child development, literature, arts, travel, and music. As the former/incumbent Department Chair of Pediatrics at Pacifica Hospital of the Valley, her focus extends beyond individual care to encompass education, comprehensive wellness, and community outreach, embodying her belief in the embracive approach to health and wellbeing.

Victoria Millet

MD, FAAP Board Certified Infectious Disease

Victoria Millet, MD, FAAP, is an experienced, board-certified pediatrician practicing at the Kids & Teens Medical Group locations in Encino, Northridge, Van Nuys, California. She has been in private pediatric practice since 1984 and joined Kids & Teens Medical Group in January of 2011. Dr. Millet completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California at Los Angeles, where she majored in zoology in 1969. She earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Southern California in 1972 and then completed a three-year residency in pediatrics at University Hospital in San Diego in 1975. She completed a pediatric infectious diseases/ambulatory pediatrics fellowship at the Center for the Health Sciences at the University of California at Los Angeles in 1980. Dr. Millet continues to do consulting work in pediatric infectious diseases for Kids & Teens Medical Group and her colleagues in the local pediatric community. She enjoys teaching and is a member of the Family Practice Residency Program faculty at Northridge Hospital Medical Center. She is also a clinical faculty member at the UCLA School of Nursing.

Rohina Furmuly

PA-C Pediatrics

Rohina Furmuly is a nationally board-certified physician assistant. She practices from the Kids & Teens Medical Group office locations in Northridge, West Hills, Van Nuys, and Pasadena. After completing her Bachelor of Science degree in physiological science at UCLA, Rohina earned her Master of Science degree in physician assistant studies at Western University of Health Sciences. She specializes in pediatrics and has substantial experience in internal medicine. Prior to joining Kids & Teens Medical Group, Rohina served the veterans of Ventura County at the Community Based Outpatient Clinic of the Department of Veteran Affairs. She also worked for Pediatric Affiliates and Tarzana Pediatric Medical Groups. Rohina is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and is certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. In addition to her clinical work, Rohina has performed epidemiological and clinical research for the UCLA Nuclear Medicine Department, the Kaiser Permanente Research and Evaluation Department, and Amgen, Inc. Her areas of focus have included Alzheimerā€™s disease and dementia; and she has co-authored two publications. Rohina is an avid traveler and adventurer. When sheā€™s not caring for patients at Kids & Teens Medical Group, she enjoys reading, outdoor activities, spending time with family and friends. TuTran Dang, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant at Kids & Teens Medical Group. She specializes in Family Medicine and Urgent Care and sees patients from the practice’s office locations in Northridge & Van Nuys. TuTran graduated magna cum laude from Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles, California. She passed the state medical board in 2006. TuTran brings a diverse set of skills to the team at Kids & Teens Medical Group. She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). She is fluent in both English and Vietnamese, which allows her to provide care to patients from different backgrounds. Lili Barajas, PA-C is a Certified Physician Assistance at Kids & Teens Medical Group. She graduated from Bay Path University’s PA Program in Massachussetts but Lili is originally from LA. As a first generation Mexican-American college student and medical provider, she loves helping her community and inspiring other minorities to pursue their dreams no matter how scary they may seem. For fun, Lili likes to go on hikes, run at the beach, watch Netflix and play with her two dogs!

Padma Bala

MD, FAAP Board Certified Pediatrician

Padma Bala, MD, FAAP, is an experienced pediatrician with expertise in both pediatrics and adolescent medicine. She is a member of the compassionate team at Kids & Teens Medical Group, practicing out of the office in San Fernando, California.

Dr. Bala graduated from the prestigious Madras Medical College at Madras, India. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Rush Presbyterian Medical Center in Chicago, after which she served in the United States Army Medical Corps as a pediatrician with the Rank of Lieutenant Colonel. She then joined Baylor Medical Group in Dallas, Texas, where she consistently achieved the best pediatrician award for many years. Dr. Bala moved to Los Angeles to be close to her first grandchild.

Her interests outside the Kids & Teens Medical Group office include history, archeology, and playing the Veena instrument. Dr. Bala looks forward to meeting new patients and building strong patient-provider relationships with the whole family.
