Kids & Teens Medical Group provides comprehensive primary pediatric care for infants, children, and teens. At their La Cañada Flintridge office on Foothill Boulevard, the team of board-certified pediatricians specializes in newborn care, adolescent medicine, and pediatric infectious disease. The general pediatrics practice also provides well-child exams, vaccinations, sports and school physicals, and nutrition services as well as sick visits and urgent care. Kids & Teens Medical Group is open seven days a week and has extended after-hours care through their telehealth service.

Meet Our Providers

Janesri De Silva

MD, FAAP

Janesri De Silva, MD, FAAP, is the Medical Director of Serendib Healthways and Kids & Teens Medical Group. She currently practices general pediatrics and adolescent medicine at the Kids & Teens Medical Group locations in Arcadia, La Cañada Flintridge, and Pasadena, California.

Dr. De Silva graduated from UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience and then went on to the American University of the Caribbean to complete her medical degree.

She completed part of her medical training at USC, Yale-affiliated hospitals, and other hospitals in Maryland and Chicago. She then completed a three-year pediatric residency at Kaiser Permanente, Sunset. While at Kaiser, she wrote a manual for pediatric interns on how to take care of patients.

After her residency, she did a fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in Adolescent Medicine and worked at the Los Angeles Free Clinic. At CHLA, Dr. De Silva worked on research involving transitioning chronically ill children to adult health care.

She was the 2014 to 2016 chair of the pediatric department at Northridge Hospital Medical Center in Northridge and is on staff at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys, Tarzana Medical Center, and Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California.

Dr. De Silva is a mother of two children and one dog. Outside of practicing medicine, she enjoys yoga, learning to play piano, and participating in ongoing education to prevent disease through physical fitness and nutrition.

PNP Board Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

Mealynne is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner that received a Master of Nursing at the University of South Florida. She has over 6 years of overall pediatric experience in both outpatient environments and inpatient level one trauma centers. She is passionate about educating patients and families regarding health prevention and promotion. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, finding new food places to try, outdoor activities and spending time with her American Eskimo dog.

Hilma Benjamin

MD, FAAP Board Certified Pediatrician

Hilma Benjamin, MD, FAAP, is a member of the caring team at Kids & Teens Medical Group. She serves patients from the practice’s location in Northridge, California. Dr. Benjamin graduated from the University of the Virgin Islands with a Bachelor of Science in biology in 1996 before earning a Master of Science in molecular and cellular biology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, in 1998. She received her medical degree in 2004 from Penn State College of Medicine and completed her residency in general pediatrics in 2007 at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, and Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Before joining Kids & Teens Medical Group in 2009, she completed several locum tenens assignments in private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area and at the Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, affiliated with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Benjamin currently serves as the acting Medical Director of Kids and Teens’ Extended Hours/After Hours Care services. Her special interests include child behavior, growth and development, dental care, nutrition, and physical education.

Barbara Rodriguez

MD, FAAP

Barbara Rodriguez, MD, FAAP, joined Kids & Teens Medical Group in 1989, practicing out of the office locations in Arcadia, La Cañada Flintridge, Pasadena, and San Fernando, California. She has over 30 years of experience as a pediatrician. She now serves as co-medical director.

 

Dr. Rodriguez is a native Angeleno. She attended elementary and secondary parochial schools in the Los Angeles area prior to receiving her degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Southern California. Dr. Rodriguez earned her medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She returned to Los Angeles for her pediatric internship and residency at LAC+USC Medical Center, where she remained for a few years after training to serve as Clinical Instructor of Pediatrics. She left to pursue private practice, participate in Medical Missions in Mexico, and work in a federally qualified community health center.

 

Dr. Rodriguez has been board certified since 1989. She likes to focus on preventive medicine but is also very happy to support parents and guardians in the care of their children when they are acutely ill. She believes it instills confidence in their parenting skills. To better serve her patients, Dr. Rodriguez is bilingual in English and Spanish.

 

Outside the office, her interests include attending soccer matches, scuba diving, cooking, and spending time with her family. She also continues to be involved in teaching. She is a Volunteer Assistant Clinical Professor for the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Nursing, where she serves as a preceptor for students in their Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program.

Padma Bala

MD, FAAP Board Certified Pediatrician

Padma Bala, MD, FAAP, is an experienced pediatrician with expertise in both pediatrics and adolescent medicine. She is a member of the compassionate team at Kids & Teens Medical Group, practicing out of the office in San Fernando, California.

 

Dr. Bala graduated from the prestigious Madras Medical College at Madras, India. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Rush Presbyterian Medical Center in Chicago, after which she served in the United States Army Medical Corps as a pediatrician with the Rank of Lieutenant Colonel. She then joined Baylor Medical Group in Dallas, Texas, where she consistently achieved the best pediatrician award for many years. Dr. Bala moved to Los Angeles to be close to her first grandchild.

 

Her interests outside the Kids & Teens Medical Group office include history, archeology, and playing the Veena instrument. Dr. Bala looks forward to meeting new patients and building strong patient-provider relationships with the whole family.

Ashlie Tam

Ashlie Tam

MD, FAAP

Ashlie Tam, MD, is a proud member of Kids & Teens Medical Group. She sees patients at the practice’s locations in Arcadia, La Cañada Flintridge, and Pasadena, California. Dr. Tam grew up on Long Island in New York. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University at Buffalo, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and exercise science. She received her Master of Science in nutrition from the University of Buffalo and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency in pediatrics at the Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Tam became a pediatrician to improve the health and well-being of children. This goal motivates her to give each patient the level of attention and focus they deserve. Dr. Tam strives to provide the personalized holistic care her patients need to thrive. The Kids & Teens Medical Group team is excited to have her join the practice.

Erika Lee is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner who joined the Kids and Teens Medical Group in 2023. She completed her undergraduate studies in Human Physiology and Biology at Boston University and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Nursing at Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. She currently sees patients in Pasadena, Arcadia, and Northridge.

Margaret Zdarzyl

MD, FAAP Board Certified Pediatrician

Board-certified pediatrician Margaret Zdarzyl, MD, FAAP, is dedicated to providing top-quality care to children in the Greater Los Angeles area. She specializes in general pediatrics and child development at Kids & Teens Medical Group and sees patients from the practice’s office in La Cañada Flintridge, California. Dr. Zdarzyl earned her medical degree from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Poland and completed both her internship and residency at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles. She is certified by The American Board of Pediatrics and is fluent in English, Polish, and Spanish, which allows her to better serve a more diverse patient population. Dr. Zdarzyl is passionate about her work in helping children and believes deeply in patient education. By promoting patient education, she helps teach children how to take an active role in their health care. When she’s not caring for children at Kids & Teens Medical Group, Dr. Zdarzyl loves to ski and garden.

Erika Lee is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner who joined the Kids and Teens Medical Group in 2023. She completed her undergraduate studies in Human Physiology and Biology at Boston University and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Nursing at Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. She currently sees patients in Pasadena, Arcadia, and Northridge.

Grace Yi is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with a passion for delivering exceptional healthcare to children. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Nursing with a specialization in Pediatric Primary Care.

Throughout her career, Grace has gained extensive experience in a variety of clinical settings, including in-patient hospital care at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, serving as a school nurse in New York City, and working in primary care in Virginia.

Grace is dedicated to giving back to her community. In her free time, she volunteers with a Children’s Ministry in her faith-based organization, enjoys playing golf with her husband, and explores various foods and restaurants.”

PNP Certified Pediatrician Nurse Practitioner

Hanna Guilas, PNP is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner at Kids & Teens Medical Group. Hanna obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UCLA School of Nursing. Hanna has always had a passion in caring for the pediatric population so she started her career at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in 2018 through the Versant residency program on a pediatric medical-surgical floor and then later transitioned to CHLA’s Emergency Department. Because of her desire to serve in pediatrics primary care, Hanna sought higher education to earn her master’s degree at Azusa Pacific University to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Now, Hanna is able to diagnose and treat any common pediatric illnesses and perform well-child checks while educating and guiding families on the best quality care that can be given at home. In her free time, Hanna likes to spend time with family, go on foodie adventures and travel.

Kelvin Duong

PNP Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

Kelvin Duong, PNP, is a pediatric nurse practitioner on the team at Kids & Teens Medical Group. He sees patients from the office locations in La Cañada Flintridge, Pasadena, and Arcadia, California. Kelvin completed his undergraduate studies in Angwin, California, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Following graduation, he began his nursing career at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in 2012, where he completed the Versant nursing residency with a focus on the pediatric hematology/oncology population. Deciding to pursue further education, Kelvin later went on to attend California State University, Long Beach, to obtain his Pediatric Nurse Practitioner degree with a focus in Primary Care. This allows him to provide a wide range of pediatric services, including diagnosing and treating common illnesses, performing well-child exams and physicals, and managing chronic conditions. Through his work at Kids & Teens Medical Group, Kelvin is proud to provide high-quality care to children in the Greater Los Angeles area.
